An Exclusive Convening for NAAS Member Academies
NAAS Summer Camp is a new, invitation-only gathering designed specifically for Member Academies to connect, collaborate, and shape the future of the state science ecosystem.

This pre-conference experience brings together academy leaders from across the country for a focused, high-impact convening ahead of the NCSL Legislative Summit.
Why Attend?
Summer Camp is designed to:
  • Strengthen relationships across state academies
  • Explore opportunities for collaboration, including future working or interest groups
  • Discuss the evolving national landscape and implications for state-level science leadership
  • Shape NAAS’s strategic direction and how it can better support member academies
  • Foster a sense of community and belonging within NAAS
Participants will leave feeling energized, connected, and inspired.
Who Can Attend?
  • Open to NAAS Member Academies only
  • Each academy may send up to two participants
  • Travel support is available for one participant per academy
What to Expect
Summer Camp blends peer learning, strategy, and networking:
  • Lightning talks showcasing innovations from state academies
  • Peer exchange roundtables on key topics (policy, funding, engagement, and more)
  • Interactive strategy sessions to inform NAAS’s future direction
  • Opportunities to connect with national partners, including the National Academies
  • Networking events designed to build lasting relationships

Day 1: Welcome, networking, and academy innovation showcases
Day 2 (Morning): Peer exchange and NAAS strategic discussions
Day 2 (Afternoon): Joint workshop with the National Academies (NASEM)

Travel Support
NAAS will provide financial travel support for one participant per academy.

Additional attendees are welcome but must cover their own travel expenses.
